Social Characteristics Assignment

Star systems that have not yet received a sociological survey may now be processed through the Social Characteristics Assignment terminal. Activation of the Social Characteristics control on the star system record transmits the system’s stellar and orbital configuration to the generator apparatus, which returns a fully computed main world designation together with population magnitude, government type, law level, tech level, and starport classification. Trade codes are assigned concurrently and propagated to both the main world record and the star system register.

Seed parameters — main world criteria, population range, government, law level, and tech level bounds — may be supplied to constrain the generator’s output; all fields are optional and default to standard table procedures when omitted.

The assignment control is suppressed automatically for any system in which an inhabited world has already been recorded, preventing inadvertent overwrite of established sociological data.

Stellar Chart: Hex Coordinate Legibility

The four-digit parsec coordinate rendered at the apex of each hex cell on the stellar cartography diagram has been increased in size. Field operatives reporting difficulty reading small hex numbers under low-light conditions should find the updated rendering materially improved.

Stellar Chart: Transit Time to Jump Threshold

Each body displayed on the stellar cartography diagram now carries an elapsed time readout indicating the duration required to reach safe jump threshold from the object’s surface. Figures are rendered to the left of the body node and are computed assuming M-Drive 4 constant-acceleration thrust throughout transit.

Directional Input: Chart Navigation Protocol

The stellar cartography console now accepts directional input via the navigator’s keyboard array. Depression of a cardinal arrow key advances the chart display by one parsec in the indicated heading. Simultaneous activation of the CTRL modifier engages rapid traverse mode, displacing the viewport by one half the visible sector extent — distance scaled to the current magnification factor. Input is suppressed whilst an analysis overlay is engaged or the full-journey projection is active.

Lunar Jump Shadow Telemetry

Moon detail pages now display a Jump Shadow section within Orbital Data. The system calculates the effective shadow distance by considering the moon’s own mass, the residual shadow of the parent planet at the moon’s orbital radius, and the residual shadows of all stars in the hierarchy at cumulative distance.

Jump Shadow Origin

The Jump Shadow section, across all world types, now identifies the body whose shadow governs the effective clear distance. No source is shown when the object’s own mass presents the dominant hazard to jump navigation.

Realistic Star Distribution Parameter

Campaign configuration now accepts a Realistic Star Distribution directive. When active, the generation system applies empirically-weighted stellar class probabilities during star placement, biasing output toward the true frequency distribution of stellar types rather than the balanced spread assumed by the default Traveller generation procedure. The directive is forwarded to the generation service for all generation channels — individual star system creation, build configuration runs, and bulk subsector population operations.

The parameter defaults to inactive upon campaign initialisation, preserving the standard Traveller stellar frequency distribution. The governing optional rule is specified in World Builder’s Handbook, page 16.

Tidal Lock

Gravitational coupling relationships are now recorded and displayed across survey records. Where a body is tidally locked to another — moon to parent planet, planet to primary stellar body, or any analogous orbital resonance — the locked body’s orbital data section carries a reference to the constraining object. Should the target body be subsequently purged from the survey database, the coupling reference is automatically voided and cleared from the record.

Sophont Cartographic Classification Codes

Campaign configuration now accepts colour classification codes for systems registered as harbouring extant native sophont species, and for those bearing historical records of extinct sophont civilisations. The assigned codes are applied to the hex matrix background of all affected systems across cartographic output channels — subsector maps, viewport renders, and the interactive navigation display.

Allegiance classification takes precedence in all cases; sophont colouring is applied only to systems not otherwise distinguished by allegiance data. Default classification codes are pre-loaded upon campaign initialisation.

Sophont Colour Display Parameter

The display parameter governing sophont hex classification on server-rendered SVG cartographic output is now independent of the colour assignment register. Discrete enable/disable parameters for native and extinct sophont classification govern rendering across subsector exports and the all-sectors cartographic output. Deactivating a parameter suppresses classification rendering on those output channels without modifying the stored colour value.

The interactive navigation display operates under a separate directive. Sophont classification is rendered unconditionally in referee mode and withheld in player mode; the SVG display parameters have no effect on this channel.

Captive Government Suppression Protocol

A control parameter is now available in campaign configuration governing whether the generation system may assign Government Classification Code 6 — Captive Government — during subsector population procedures. A captive government designation indicates that a system operates under direct political authority of an external power, a disposition more correctly determined by referee directive than derived through automated generation, particularly in deep-space exploration operational contexts.

The parameter defaults to suppressed for Deepnight Revelation campaigns and active for Charted Space and Homebrew campaigns. Individual subsector build specifications may declare allowCaptiveGovernment to override the campaign-level parameter for a given generation run; the per-subsector declaration takes precedence in all cases.

Distance Display Mode

Campaign configuration now includes a distance display parameter governing which unit of orbital measurement is rendered in star system tables and orbital data sections throughout the interface. The available modes are Astronomical Units and Traveller orbit number. The default mode is AU. The selected mode applies uniformly across all star system and stellar object display terminals.

Public Map Access via Signed URLs

Sector, subsector, and star system maps may now be accessed without an active session via a signed URL. A copy-to-clipboard icon is displayed adjacent to each map; activating it places the signed URL on the clipboard for immediate deployment.

The signed URL may be embedded directly into world-construction platforms such as World Anvil, Legend Keeper, and Obsidian, or inserted into the image display systems of virtual tabletop installations including Foundry VTT and Roll20. The cartographic data unit will update automatically as the underlying survey records are modified, requiring no manual re-export or file transfer operation. Maps served to unauthenticated terminals are rendered without interactive navigation hyperlinks.

Markdown Export for Survey Records

Stellar object, star, and star system survey records may now be exported in Markdown format. An activation control bearing the Markdown sigil is displayed in the lower-right corner of each record; engaging it fetches the formatted data packet and deposits it directly onto the system clipboard.

The exported data unit is structured for immediate insertion into external world-construction platforms including Obsidian, World Anvil, and Foundry VTT, and contains all survey fields pertinent to the record type: orbital parameters, physical and environmental data, atmospheric composition, hydrographic distribution, biological ratings, and social indices as applicable.

Star System Lockout Protocol

Star systems may now be designated as Locked. A locked system is protected from modification during subsector generation — it is neither cleared nor overwritten when the generation sequence executes. The Replace function is likewise disabled for locked systems.

Sophont Check Protocol

A Sophont Check parameter is now configurable per campaign via the Campaign Settings panel. The setting governs the sophont check procedure applied during star system generation, in accordance with the World Builder’s Handbook (p.130). Three modes are available: Standard — the default generation procedure; Rare Earth Universe Variant — substantially reduces the probability of complex sophont life arising; and None — sophont checks are suppressed entirely. Charted Space campaigns default to None; all other campaign types default to Standard.

Survey Index Tracking

Jump logs now support setting the Survey Index value at the destination parsec.

Campaign Classification System Installed

Campaigns are now assigned a type at the point of creation: Charted Space, Deepnight Revelation, or Homebrew. The creation form presents contextual guidance for each classification and, where applicable, prompts selection of a sector data source — either TravellerMap or the Deepnight Revelation sourcebook defaults. Campaign type and sector source may be amended at any time via the Campaign Settings panel.

Deepnight Revelation Auto-Initialisation

When a Deepnight Revelation campaign is created, the system automatically dispatches sector creation and build script assignment across the full Deepnight operational theatre. No manual intervention is required; sectors and subsectors are constructed and configured in the background upon campaign initialisation.

Campaign Settings Panel

A Campaign Settings panel has been added to the Settings area, presenting current campaign classification, sector data source, and subsector counts. The panel provides the following operational controls:

  • Set Build Scripts — assigns build configurations to all subsectors based on the campaign’s sector source.
  • Populate Empty Sectors — dispatches generation orders only for sectors that contain no star systems. The confirmation prompt states the count of affected sectors and subsectors prior to execution.
  • Populate All Sectors — dispatches generation orders for all subsectors that carry a build plan, regardless of current population status.

System Chart Installed in Navigation Console

The star system display in the navigation sidebar has been replaced with a vertical transit-line diagram — a schematic representation of each system’s orbital structure. Bodies are laid out top-to-bottom along a central spine in order of orbital radius, with secondary stars branching into indented sub-spines at their respective positions.

Body type is indicated by node geometry and colour: stars by large coloured circles calibrated to spectral class, gas giants by banded discs, terrestrial worlds by colour-coded circles reflecting atmospheric and hydrographic character, and planetoid belts by the standard debris-field glyph. AU distances are annotated along each connecting segment, and the jump shadow boundary is marked where applicable.

Clicking a body node opens the full analysis detail panel for that object. Selecting the ⊙ icon designates the body as the origin for in-system transit calculations, displaying estimated transit times at 4G acceleration against all other bodies in the chart. Stellar object visibility remains governed by the system survey index.
