Survey Records and Classified Records

The single notes field attached to survey entries is now divided into two discrete registers. Survey Records are visible to all personnel holding access to the campaign. Classified Records are restricted to the referee and are withheld from every other terminal. Both registers accept Markdown formatting.

Satellite Display Directive for Orbital Charts

The orbital chart for a star system, and for an individual star, now accepts a satellite display directive. Three classifications are available: None, Significant, and All. Under None, the chart presents primary bodies only, as before. Under Significant, satellites of consequential size are plotted; bodies of size classification 0 or S are withheld. Under All, every recorded satellite is plotted.

Sector Subsector Matrix Display

Advances in long-range sector survey telemetry now allow the tabular subsector register on the sector terminal to be superseded by a four-by-four matrix of subsector cards. Each card presents summary data about its subsector at a glance.

Atmospheric Composition and Hydrographic Liquid Readouts

Refinements to onboard survey instrumentation, together with improved access to the planetary infonet, now enable the planetary profile to report atmospheric composition and the hydrographic liquid, where these are recorded. The readouts are presented in the interactive navigation display sidebar and the analysis detail panel. The same fields are included in the exported Markdown profile and in the help terminal documentation.

Delta Broadcast Subscription Channel

The delta register now offers a standing subscription channel in the form of an RSS broadcast feed, allowing operators to receive each new delta upon issue without consulting the register directly. A feed icon is located at the far right of the delta register header; selecting it copies the broadcast address to the clipboard for entry into any compatible receiving apparatus.

Stellar Body Registration

New terrestrial planets, planetoids, planetoid belts, gas giants and moons may now be registered manually within an existing star system, without recourse to the generator service. Moons are registered against a designated parent body. Reference documentation for the amendment procedure is available from the help terminals for each body classification.

Ring Classification Support

Ring systems are now recognised as discrete records within the survey database, and are displayed in orbital tables and cartographic output alongside the bodies they encircle. Rings may be registered and amended in the same manner as other stellar bodies.

Orbit Sequence Correction

A fault has been rectified whereby the orbital ordering of a star system was disturbed when a stellar body was regenerated. The sequence is now recomputed upon regeneration, and a maintenance procedure is provided for the restoration of ordering in existing records.

Malformed Archive Handling

Tab-delimited archive files containing an invalid hex coordinate are now rejected with a diagnostic message, rather than halting the import procedure.

Automatic Subsector Scan Protocol

Newly registered sectors now undergo automatic subsector scans. Upon creation, each of the sixteen subsectors is committed to the scan queue without operator intervention, and the sector is charted progressively as the Data Cores complete each assignment. Sectors imported from the external cartographic archive are always scanned in this manner.

The scan directive is engaged by default. It may be disengaged at the point of creation, in which case the sector is registered without scanning and the operator may initiate scans at a later time.

Sector Registration Parameters

The sector commissioning console now offers a selection of registration methods. A single set of survey parameters may be applied across the whole sector, or each subsector may be assigned parameters of its own. Sectors may also be registered as uncharted, containing no scanned systems until the operator directs otherwise.

Sophont Registry Protocol

A central registry of sophont species is now maintained within the Data Cores. Each registered species carries a designation, a language classification, a home system, referee and player annotations, and a pictorial likeness. Worlds declared to harbour a native sophont population may be assigned a species from the registry; where none is on record, a designation entered at the point of assignment is registered automatically, with the originating system declared as its home.

The assigned designation is displayed wherever the native sophont classification appears. Within the interactive navigation display, selecting the designation reveals the associated annotations. Referee annotations are released to the referee alone; players are furnished with player annotations only.

Polar Ice Cap Detection

The planetary scanner sensors have been recalibrated, improving the accuracy of ice cap detection on worlds, planetoids and moons.

2026.286

Campaign Languages

The linguistic archive now accepts languages compiled by the campaign operator. A list of words, entered directly or supplied as a text file, is analysed by the name synthesiser, which then produces new names in the manner of that list. Campaign languages appear alongside the standard languages, sorted by name, and may be reviewed, amended, retrieved or struck from the record.

Allegiance Languages

Each allegiance may now be assigned a language. Systems without a language of their own adopt that of their allegiance before falling back to the subsector, sector or campaign default, and newly surveyed systems are named accordingly.

2026.284

Hydrographic Distribution

The orbital scanners have been recalibrated to take account of how the surface water of a world is distributed. Seas and oceans are now charted according to the survey’s findings on the spread of the waters, and no longer follow the proportion of the surface covered alone. Water-bearing worlds are resolved with greater fidelity as a result.

Orbital Plotting

The orbital plotter has been fitted to each star’s survey record, and projects the bodies that circle the star onto concentric rings, nearest first, in the colours of the operator’s chosen display. Each body is selectable, and its record opens on demand. The plot may be downloaded as an image, or requested by external instruments under the campaign’s clearance token, which returns a plot free of selectable links.

Single-Star Charts

The schematic chart of a star system may now be drawn for a single star, showing only the bodies in its own keeping. A star circling another appears as one mark, its own bodies being charted on its own record. The chart carries a shareable public link, as the system chart does.
