Social Characteristics
The Social Characteristics function transmits the current star system configuration to the generator apparatus and instructs it to assign or reassign population, government, law level, tech level, and starport data for all inhabited worlds in the system. Seed parameters supplied via the form are applied to the main world; all other bodies receive values computed in relation to the primary.
- Government
- The governing structure of the main world, expressed as a Traveller government code (0–15). Select a value to seed the generator with a specific government type; leave blank to allow the generator to assign one according to standard tables.
- Law Level
- The legal restriction level of the main world (0–15). Higher values indicate more pervasive regulation of personal freedoms, weapons, and commerce. Leave blank for a randomly generated value.
- Population Code
- The population magnitude code of the main world (0–15), expressed as a hex digit representing an order of magnitude. A code of 7 indicates tens of millions of inhabitants. Leave blank for a randomly generated value.
- Tech Level
- The technological sophistication of the main world (0–33). Influences the tech levels of subsidiary worlds in the system. Leave blank to allow the generator to compute an appropriate value based on the world's physical profile.
Operational Notes
- All seed parameters are optional. Any field left blank is assigned by the generator.
- Existing physical characteristics — size, atmosphere, hydrographics — are preserved.
- The UWP string for each inhabited world is recomputed following assignment.
- This operation cannot be reversed automatically; use Replace to regenerate the full system.
